Heatwave

Believe it or not this is a radiator. Now, like many Sydneysiders we don't have radiators but I would be very tempted to put in central heating if I could have one of these. The Heatwave is designed by Joris Larmann and manufactured by Droog Design and Jaga. See http://www.jorislaarman.com/heatwave.htm more details and photos. It looks even better against a dark wall. They come in four different sizes starting at about $2000 ( so more of an artwork than a utility item ) and are available from www.theradiatorfactory.com.

Heaven in Earth

I have just planted my first herb garden, having started my gardening career only a year ago and came across http://www.heaveninearth.com.au/. I love their range of slate labels and memo boards and hope to use them soon both inside and out. I am thinking of using either the key rings or the labels on the wooden stand to label coat and hat hooks in my hallway.

Sleek hallway

This is the hallway of an architects home I saw featured in Elle Decoration (UK). I think its an innovative use of the IKEA Lack shelf. The Knax coat hooks are Danish, designed by Harrit & Sørensen and manufactured by LoCa. So all in all a typically sleek and practical Scandinavian solution for every day living.

There are lots of online stores overseas - especially UK based - selling the Knax coat hook but I couldn't find an Australian supplier online.

Keep Calm Gallery

This online print gallery has a great range of prints and they are always bringing on new artists and products so it is worth tracking the site and blog. I've picked out a few of my favourites below but there are lots of others to choose from. I had my red 'Keep Calm' shipped to Australia with no hassle and the print arrived in perfect condition. http://www.keepcalmgallery.com/

tranSglass®

Pretty much everything Tord Boonjte designs appeals to me and tranSglass® is no exception. I first saw these pieces in the Design Museum on London's South Bank and at the time they were very expensive. I recently saw them again in a UK magazine and things have obviously moved on as they are now widely available and very well priced for such a lovely handcrafted and individual product.

tranSglass® recycled glass is designed by Emma Woffenden & Tord Boontje and is manufactured by ArTecnica. See www.artecnicainc.com for more details on their collaboration with Guatemalan craftsmen and other Design with Conscience products. In Australia you can get them at www.dedeceplus.com . The carafes and jugs are about $45, four glasses about $60 and a covered carafe with 4 glasses around the $100 mark.

First Post

My folder of ideas has a sample of Neisha Crosland's Bird Tree wallpaper as a cover and so it seemed appropriate to use something similar as a cover for my new online folder. The image on my blog is Neisha Crosland's Bird Tree fabric in China Blue. See http://www.neishacrosland.com/ for this and other wonderful patterned fabrics and wallpapers.

The image below is from a house decorated by Charlotte Crosland using her sister's Hawthorn design in black grey and cream. From my memory of the magazine article accompanying this photo the framed piece is the original design.

In Australia Neisha Crosland is available at South Pacific fabrics. See link for more background on Neisha Crosland http://www.southpacificfabrics.com/public/catalogue/product_info.php?id=20
